Goldstone to Visit Israel?

According to the Jerusalem Post(March 29):

Palestinian group seeks Peres’ arrest in Switzerland

“A pro-Palestinian human rights group has petitioned Switzerland’s attorney-general to issue an arrest warrant for visiting President Shimon Peres.

The petition, alleging that Peres should be held responsible for allegations made in “the UN’s Goldstone report regarding the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip accuses Tel Aviv and its leaders of committing war crimes and humanitarian crimes.” -more

And this from the JTA (April 5):

U.N. Human Rights Council: Goldstone Report stands

JERUSALEM (JTA) — “The United Nations Human Rights Council said it will continue to use the Goldstone Report as written, despite its author’s retraction of a key finding.

Council spokesman Cedric Sapey told the Israeli daily Yediot Achronot on Monday that the Op-Ed written by Richard Goldstone appearing in The Washington Post of April 2 was his personal opinion and not that of the rest of the committee.”-more

And then there’s this Associated Press report (April 5):

Official: Goldstone invited to visit Israel

JERUSALEM — “Israel’s interior minister says jurist Richard Goldstone has accepted an invitation to visit Israel, a significant turn after Israel refused to cooperate with his U.N. team investigating Israeli conduct in the Gaza offensive two years ago.

The invitation follows Goldstone’s comments that he was reconsidering the conclusion of his U.N. report that said Israel deliberately targeted civilians during the three-week offensive against Gaza’s militant Palestinian Hamas group.”

About the Region, Islam and cultural totalitarianism...

We now know that bin Laden’s terrorists had been planning their outrages for years. The propagation of their mad, bad ideology — decency forbids calling it a religion — had been taking place before our eyes. We were just too blind to see it. In short, the world had never ceased to be dangerous. But the West had ceased to be vigilant. Surely that is the most important lesson of this tragedy, and we must learn it if our civilisation is to survive.
